Architects Design Own Home on Denton Tap • Plan for ‘Fortress’ Wall Fails to Pass Muster • Prescription Powder Produced Only in Coppell • Kroger’s Landlord Agrees to Move Pumps
Thursday’s Coppell Planning and Zoning Commission meeting was the first one I ever covered in person, and that rare decision was fortuitous. For an unknown reason, a recording of that meeting is not yet available. Everything in this week’s Coppell Chronicle is based on my live notes and subsequent research.
In regards to the “Architects Home”, it is very unusual for a residence to have a Denton Tap address today. However, just a few decades ago, before all of the zoning changes & development, there were plenty of residences/folks who lived along Denton Tap Rd (including my family). It’s not THAT weird if you’ve lived here long enough. As a witness to the many changes that have occurred in Coppell over the decades (folks being priced out, lands rezoned and swallowed up to develop one thing or another, every single piece of it). It’s not about someone having an “unprecedented Denton Tap address”, it should be about what is most suitable there? Dr. Bailey’s office is a gem. I want that awkward 2 acres to be left alone. Kept as is, a natural barrier habitat. But sadly, we all know that SomeThing will surely be built there eventually because of $$$. So, I’d much rather see a residence (keeping the integrity of land & trees as much as possible) go in there than a fast-food joint or other structure that would undoubtedly cut down all the beautiful trees and pour lots of concrete. When will we learn? Once all of the land is poured over- it’s gone forever. :(
Thank you for all the updated and interesting information. I especially enjoyed the zoning updates, especially about the pharmaceuticals being manufactured here. My husband and I were just commenting last week on that creek property agreeing that it might stay undeveloped because of where it sits by the creek. Goes to show how much we know! 😂. That being said, our Zoning commission has made good decisions for Coppell as long as I have lived here since 1980, so I trust they will continue to do so!
For historical reference, there was a convenience store at the location of the current location of the CVS at MacArthur and Sandy Lake Road for many years. It was torn down to build the CVS. It sold gasoline, and there was never any problems.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Shipley Do-nuts.

I’m always curious how others feel though.
