Thanks for your news coverage and clever writing, which often brings a chuckle.

It would be interesting to know the most popular items checked out from the Coppell library last year. In Denton, it was portable WiFi units.

Would also be super interested in Coppell Library facts!

I also noticed that my neighbors along Rocky branch and Leavalley and bethel school hadn’t received the notice from you or the city regarding trash collection dates. I suspect they won’t be any more in the know this week!

You do such a service for the community with your publication. I enjoy reading it every week--the writing is clear and informative, and sometimes (appropriately) humorous, which is greatly appreciated. I look forward to your reporting in 2024.

I enjoy reading The Coppell Chronicle, especially the CRUMBS!

I’m looking forward to your report for our elections.

What I miss the most about the Advocate is the personal info like engagements, weddings, obituaries, and accomplishments of our graduates, like their college graduations.

I have read with interest the article related to the proposed Veteran's Memorial. As I attend most council meetings, I have been aware of this project for over a year. However, I have concerns of late. The original budget proposal was for about $350K and designs were developed with input from Veterans etal. However, by July 2023, the controversy over location bogged down decision making and a Council "work session" on that date decided that the original budget was too low "due to inflation" and should be increased to over 400K. In the course of further discussion, one council member stated that they wouldn't mind if the project budget was increased to $1.5 million to which everyone, to my surprise, immediately jumped on board with. The session ended discussion by tentatively approving this as well as hiring more design consultants at the cost of 10's of thousand more dollars, essentially almost "going back to the drawing board "out of fear" of making the same mistake as had been done with the "dog park" fiasco. Now, we have the presentation of the new proposal, and two of the three new options far exceed even the greatly inflated budget objective. Fortunately, there was now more balking at these "overelaborate" and excessively costs by some council members. Now I am in no way opposed to having an appropriate "Veteran's Memorial." But I would like to know why so much time and money is being spend at this stage when it is apparent the concept must have been originally presented with no real practical goals or limits formulated as to how to achieve this "idea" before approving a budget. I also don't know how or where the $1.5 to $2.0 million dollars are coming from to fund this. Was this budgeted for? Were the citizens of Coppell ever asked to approve this project, especially at this cost? The fact that the design consultants apparently went off the deep end with no real apparent concern for cost and just appear to be elaborately upgrading for purposes "unknown" is also of concern.

I’d like to see more coverage on the performance of the Arts Center. Both financial and attendance. Last year, the staff was at the City Council meeting stating that a small profit had been made, but when consultants were brought in to evaluate the CAC operations, it came out that it was running at a deficit of $2M/ year. That’s a large variance and a large amount for tax payers to subsidize.
