Thanks for another great edition of news we can use.

Another great edition!

I just passed the former location of Ms. Mary's and a new lease sign has gone up. Did we lose another restaurant?

Are you referring to the large sign along the road that’s attributed to “The Retail Connection”? That’s been there for weeks.

However, I just took a close look at the front door and discovered that the city posted a “Stop Work Order” dated May 2. 😳

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look into it.

From what I understand residents did not have to submit proof of income to qualify for a rehabilitation grant. So our tax dollars could be gifted to multi-millionaires? When I read a resident with a home worth over 1.2 million dollars wanted a grant, my jaw hit the floor. I know there are lots of variables to consider, but proof of income should be at the top of the list.

Yes, sorry if it was a wild goose chase. Something seemed different. Thanks for checking.

When I clicked on the live link "auction of surplus and seized items" it took me to a website that said, "403 forbidden".

Julie, I can’t explain that, because I just tested the link again, and it worked for me. If you can Google your way to the Rene Bates website, you can search for “Coppell” on that site to find the city’s auction.
