Also Kelli Finglass is the DCC director and lives in Coppell. She’s in every episode of the Netflix show.

1. LOVE the Chronicle theme song!

2. I read the current segment on rehab grants twice, and linked up to the referenced past article. Is it just me who is confused as to its continuance?

3. Excellent summary of debris cleanup, Dan!

The rehab grants are definitely not being continued via ARPA funds. Meanwhile, the staff had planned to include $200,000 worth of them in future annual budgets, but the council's consensus was to not do that.

For someone who is desperate to sell their property, Mr Chaddick sure is a difficult person to get hold of! We called, texted and emailed for over a year, wanting to discuss purchasing the property and the property across the road but he never replied to any. So who knows what his plans are?!?! One day I pull into my parking lot and his buildings will be gone :-( unless someone is kind enough to let me know if they see it happening!

Dan, one small correction to your article on CISD's tax rate, and in particular, this sentence: "The trustees have been covering deficits for the past few years by dipping into the district’s fund balance, which is not a sustainable approach."

Coppell ISD has never realized a budget deficit. They've saved more money than they've spent every single year. CISD says they'll finally realize a deficit for the 2023-24 school year, but we'll have to wait and see. For the last year in which we have the final numbers (the 2022-23 school year), they projected a deficit of $9.7 million, but ultimately had a surplus of $85k.

Slide 2 from the presentation titled "Historical adopted budget vs. actual results analysis" at the April 8, 2024 budget workshop lists the exact numbers for each year going back to 2015.
