CORRECTION: As originally published, the article about the city budget said Scenario C would have cut $50,000 allocated to creating a food truck park in Old Town. The budgeted amount is actually $500,000.
Perhaps to help the homeless students; there could be a list of coppellians who are willing to open their home for the night to them. These students are doing the impossible to continue their education, sports and grades. Just an idea and I’d be happy to be first on the list
Thank you for providing us with this essential service.
Good coverage about the existing and expected homelessness issues. Its time we came out of our Coppell "bubble" and become aware of the reality of the world outside of it.
the GT issue in Middle school was interesting too. Having had a child who was in the program, I always thought it was more for the parents to use as humble brag in social settings ( i include myself in the set of parents) than any academic differentiation. The kids who excelled in academics did so even without the tag.
Thank you for all the valuable information about our city. There is much to know and consider.
I was saddened to hear that we had 70 students considered homeless., but I feel that confident that our school staff would be sure they were welcome and cared for. I hope that if any student needed something the PTOs would provide help. If there is a way for our community to help, I would like to know.
Thank you for the “Shout Out” for our son’s restaurant, GOODWIN’S on lower Greenville.
It saddens me to hear of Kathleen House’s death. She was a wonderful, creative, kind person and teacher!
I pass the "coming soon" Little Caesars sign every day and keep wondering when "soon" was going to get here. Thank you for the update. I am curious to see how long the restaurant will last in Coppell, which has a high turnover rate for restaurants, if it is having this much trouble opening.
Dan, Great coverage of Coppell! It would be interesting to research why the City is in a panic to limit watering our foundations and yards yet no limits on swimming pool water?
I don't think there are any restrictions on foundation watering, and even at stage 2 restrictions, "Watering by hand, using non-spray irrigation systems like drip irrigation, and the use of soaker hoses is allowed on any day, at all times (https://www.coppelltx.gov/604/Water-Conservation-Plan) . It would be hard to enforce pool water, and at some point a pool's water level would get below the point of being operable and present a public health problem; i.e. mosquitos.
In an amazing display of quick research, a subscriber sent me this blog post that was apparently written by the artist who created the painting highlighted in the Chronicle Crumbs: http://www.johnfolley.com/beauty-advocacy-blog/category/lately-complete

Dan, where can we get more info in the food truck park? Inquiring minds want to know!
Shawn, as far as I know, it exists only as a theoretical line item in the budget. I've not yet heard the council discuss it in detail.
