Dan, I love your newsletter but I take exception to your headline “CISD Moms form Political Action Committee.” Would you have used a similar headline if it had been a group of CISD dads? Maybe a better choice of words would have been PARENTS, unless you find the fact that it’s four women newsworthy? I’ll keep subscribing though, since you’re still my favorite read on Sunday. 😊

I maintain a separate website at coppellchronicle.com, because I figure it will be easier for people to remember that URL than it would be for them to remember coppellchronicle.substack.com (and because it prevents any squatters from claiming the simpler URL). Each week, I craft my four headlines so that each one can fit on a single line at coppellchronicle.com without spilling onto a second line. That headline would have been too long if I had used “Parents” instead of “Moms.”
Dan, Regarding the Cowboy and Cowgirl images in the Maple Mart gas station, they look like you and Jessica. You should post them with your face and Jessica's face superimposed more often. "yEE-HAW!!!!!"

With all due respect. I personally think the "tax rate reduction" discussed is a joke. You "reduce" the rate a fraction" and access the new rate on a house value that has doubled in the last four years. We are all paying a higher amount. The higher valuation means nothing unless you are planning to sell and find cheaper somewhere else. A more solid idea (if you really want to help the residents, would be to freeze the home valuations at the 2021 level, and when someone does sell, the new owner's value be established at the current valuation of the new purchase price. As is, you are killing long time residents, many of which are retired, and have no interest in selling their home. Just saying. Nothing like having your taxes be more than your house payment.
The city of Coppell has no control over how or when your property is valuated and no ability to freeze that valuation at an arbitrary level. The Texas Tax Code requires all CADs to appraise all taxable property at its market value every January 1. Your proposal would need to be enacted by the folks down in Austin.
